About

Working on international trade policy, where I help Danish companies navigate a volatile trade environment and help them understand how geopolitical developments affect their global operations. The work also involves promoting the interests of Danish companies towards the EU’s negotiations of multi- and bilateral free trade agreements (WTO, EU-US trade relations etc.). Responsible for giving guidance to companies on complying with EU and US regulation on exports of military equipment and dual-use products, i.e. products that can be used for both military and civilian purposes. This work involves advising companies on how to comply with sanctions regimes around the world, especially EU and US sanctions towards Russia, Iran, Cuba and China. Daily contacts with companies, ministries (primarily the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs), EU policy makers (EU Commission and members of the European Parliament European), and business organisations (primarily BusinessEurope, U.S. Chamber and Orgalim). As well as being the chairman of Orgalim’s Trade policy Working Group, I am a member of several working groups in BusinessEurope that deal with international affairs. Hence, I have extensive experience in engaging with all types of stakeholders in order to find common ground. Extensive media experience, as my unit is contacted on a regular basis to give views on how current political developments around the world affect Danish companies. Media contact involves giving both background information as well as quotes for printed press, radio and TV. At DI, I have previously (November 2008-March 2012) worked on raising awareness on how the public sector can become more effective by contracting out the delivery of public services to private companies, e.g. maintenance of infrastructure, delivery of medical services, and care for elders.

The Confederation of Danish Industry is the largest business organisation in Denmark and it organises around 12.000 businesses. I currently work on improving access for Danish businesses on markets outside the EU through: - multi- and bilateral free trade agreements - anti-dumping and anti-subsidiary cases - access to critical raw materials, e.g. rare earth elements - guidance to member companies on export controls of dual use products and arms. At the Confederation I have previously worked on raising awareness on how the public sector can become more effective by delegating responsibility for the delivery of services of general economic interest (e.g. infrastructure, utilities, medical services, care for elders etc.) to private companies.

In cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) under the World Bank, I conducted an evaluation of the regulatory reform work that was carried out in Croatia from 2006 onwards. The purpose of the evaluation was to assess the way in which the Standard Cost Model had originally been used in Croatia to estimate the impact of the reform. The second element of the evaluation was to conduct an SCM measurement of the actual impact of those elements of the reform, which had been implemented. The last element of the evaluation was to assess the macroeconomic impact of the reform.
