Consulting to the cement, cement blending, concrete product manufacturing, concrete ready-mix and quarrying businesses worldwide. Currently my main focus is setting up a new business involving a complete 7000tpd cement factory and limestone quarry near Chakwal Pakistan, while also continuing some local consulting in South Africa and African.
Greenfield development of a fully integrated 2800 tpd cement manufacturing facility and the development of a limestone quarry near Koedoeskop Limpopo Province.
Project managed the construction of a 200 000 ton a year blast furnace slag milling facility for the Group in Meyerton - Also involved in the following; Vibro Bricks - Technical Manager - Strategic planning, concrete paving manufacture, stock brick manufacture, quality assurance, cost management, mix design management, production management and reporting, SABS mark holding, IDM Cement - Technical Manager - Strategic planning - cement blending, quality assurance, cost management, recipe management, production management and reporting, SABS mark holding, plant design improvements, cement packaging, raw material selection and management.
Total responsibility for commercial & technical function in the aggregate division. Development and implementation of strategic plans to establish a presence in the aggregate market and significantly increase sales, by providing marketing support, negotiating supply contracts with clients, and establishing logistics networks. Firmly entrenched Mooiplaas, Laezonia and Kgale quarries as the leading suppliers of aggregates in the construction and related industries. (Mooiplaas Dolomite quarry was at the time the single largest aggregate quarry in Southern Africa). Part of the strategic planning teams working on strategic plans for PPC Cement and other related businesses owned and operated by PPC. Responsible for the development of new markets and new customer markets.
General Management responsibility of running a newly acquired aggregates & ready mix business, Crete Cats & Sand Cats from which the previous owner/manager left when PPC acquired the business. At the same time PPC acquired 50% of Kgale Quarries and 100% Pronto Ready mix Concrete in Botswana. My main responsibilities included reviving the Cats Aggregate & Ready mix businesses in South Africa as well as bottom line responsibility for the Pronto Ready mix in Botswana. I was on the Board of Kgale Quarries (Pty) Ltd a 50% share holding with Grinaker Construction. In April of 2001 PPC acquired Mooiplaas Dolomite (Pty) Ltd from Iscor which also became my operational responsibility. I was on the Board of Mooiplaas Dolomite (Pty) Ltd and sat on the PPC Cement Executive Committee. I had a diverse range of staff reporting to me Mooiplaas & Laezonia +/- 120 Cats +/- 60 Ready mix Botswana +/- 30
I played a leading role in creating an entirely new sales and marketing function, after PPC had emerged from a regulated business environment. My main responsibilities included the development and implementation of technical marketing strategies, internal and external communications, business development, market intelligence, and customer relationship management programmes. Part of the highly effective Surebuild brand launch team. PPC was awarded the IMM’s “Marketing Company of the Year Award” in 1997. Developed a national technical marketing & product development team. Responsible for handling customer complaints and contractual issues of a technical nature on behalf of PPC Cement - Inland
1992 - 1993 Develop new markets and sales of silica fume into the South African & International markets. 1994 - 1995 Managed the inland cement sales team.
