I'm 58 years old and my legacy fuels my desire to have an impact. I think age is an advantage--the kids are grown and you have my full attention. I graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I also hold a Juris Doctorate from the Ventura College of Law. I am currently waiting for the results of the July California Bar.
I'm 58 years old. Most recently I was teaching in Washington D.C., Houston and Oregon. I'm now concentrating on my legacy. I took the July California bar exam and I'm awaiting results. I'm an ALS advocate because of a personal connection and a climate advocate because, well, I have a personal connection--everyone I love will have to live in a world with this increasingly volatile climate. I have experience advocating for the environment and I want to return to that work. I'm upfront about my age. I think it's an advantage. I believe at my age you will have my full attention. My legacy is my focus and it's what fuels me.
I work with individual students as well as teach English at the elementary level.
Management • Hired and supervise 3 team members, 6 interns and volunteers • Ran successful IE campaigns while supervising others running campaigns during 2010 election • Produce and monitor a budget • Headed up the MD Fed Water Coalition with 20+ groups • Managed MD Fed Global Warming Coalition- 7 of 8 MD Congressional delegation members voted for "ACES" Act 2009 Legislative and Political • During 2011 Legislative Session served as Legislative and Political Manager • Produce Maryland LCV “Hot List”, an environmental bill-tracking newsletter sent to Legislators and activists • Lead lobby meetings with Maryland Congressional Delegation Fundraising • I took over tracking and writing of all C-3 grant proposals and reports when our Development Manager left in early 2011 • Maintained the same level of funding during my time Communications / Media • Developed communications and media program from ground up • Brought Facebook and Twitter to Maryland LCV • Distributed campaign videos using Youtube and Facebook during 2010 state-wide elections • First organizer with National LCV to land an ED Board meeting with the Washington Post • Facilitated critical opinion piece with US Army Veteran Craig Martin in Baltimore Sun -“Climate Insecurity” September 2010 • Organized endorsement press conference featuring Governor Martin O’Malley Issue Campaigns, Events and Capacity Building • Managed a national online campaign to reach out beyond Maryland to pass Fed water bill -Activated 500+ citizens in 8 key areas. www.restoringourwaters.org • Secured US House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer for a town hall meeting at the University of Maryland • Doubled the size of our organization’s list to 30,000+ e-mail subscribers in 4 years • Nominated for and participated in Green Jobs Forum at the White House in 2009 • Chosen to participate in a meeting on American Jobs Act with President Obama and VP Biden at the White House • Participate in meetings at EPA and Department of Energy
