I have a strong interest in biology especially in the field of virology, immunology and infectious disease. During my undergraduate studies, I have experience in working in research and diagnostic labs. I have worked on studies on the replication of norovirus and also done many mammalian virus diagnostic test. I had perform and succeeded in isolation of several virus isolation using cell culture and embryonated eggs.
- handle administrative duties such as procurement, good receiving using SAP. - safety representative, handling inventories, risk assessments. - work on Malaria (i.e. plasmodium berghei, plasmodium falciparum) and coronavirus (i.e. SARS-Cov2) - perform immunisation and infection experiments on mice. - perform in-vivo and ex-vivo imaging of mice using IVIS spectrum. - perform blood and organ sample processing on mice - perform human blood sample processing - perform serological assays for surveillance of COVID-19 using flow cytometry (i.e. BD LSRII, Cytoflex LX) - perform immunophenotyping of mice using flow cytometry (i.e. BD fortessa)
• Handle administrative duties such as procurement, inventory (e.g. Chemicals, Samples), lab maintenance • Assist various research fellows with their project • Perform molecular laboratory techniques (e.g. Zymolyase DNA extraction, convention/ real time PCR, gel electrophoresis, ELISA, yeast/blood cultures) for different projects • Perform husbandry of the laboratory mice colonies to ensure constant mice stock for the lab • Able to operate Tecan Evo robotics to perform serial dilutions, qPCR and spotting assays for yeast (e.g. C. albicans) • Analysis of Next Generation Sequences using Lasergene SegMan Pro, NBCI Blast • Analysis of data (e.g. qPCR, spotting assays) and plotting of graph using R and prism
- Handle with mammalian viruses such as BTV, Hep E, CIV, EIV, SIV - Perform sample processing (e.g. organs and swabs) in preparation for virus detection - Perform virus isolation using cell cultures and embryonated eggs (AC, IV and CAM route) for further sequencing and to be used as positive controls - Perform daily cell culture maintenance - Perform molecular laboratory techniques (e.g. extraction, convention/ real time PCR, gel electrophoresis, ELISA) for diagnostic testing - Analysis of Next Generation Sequences using NBCI Blast, Bioedit, Cluster Omega - Develop SOP for experiments conducted for diagnostic testing
