As a Fresh Graduate, I joined the Graduate Trainee Programme in Dairy Farm Singapore. In the programme, I was exposed to many functions of the supermarket landscape and picked up the basic skills of a category manager through managing the category of Pet Food and Foils and Wraps. At the end of the programme, I worked in a team to deliver a tool to help the company manage Slow Moving Stocks, with special focus on the General Merchandising department. Following my graduation in August 2019, I was given the category of biscuits to manage. In Jan 2020, with the new structure of the company, I am currently in charge of the categories of Biscuits, Snacks, Chocolates and Confectionary.
Responsibilities for this role include: 1) Manage cross border business for assigned lanes in Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and Brazil 2) Project monthly orders and revenue through planning of marketing initiatives and budget spend to ensure a healthy balance between P&L and MoM order growth 3) Conduct periodic analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in assigned lanes and devise corresponding strategy and subsequent execution 4) Led market launch initiatives in Taiwan, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile 5) Manage multiple stakeholders across different markets in SEA and LATAM to foster collaboration and smooth execution of key tasks 6) Lead and support projects across countries and document SOP for mass execution
Responsibilities for this role include: 1) Develop and execute a business plan that is aligned with the company's direction for the category in all banners, Giant, Cold Storage, Marketplace and Jasons Deli 2) Manage supplier's relationship through channels such as joint business reviews 3) Conduct effective negotiation for cost of goods and exclusive deals 4) Partner with supply chain through joint forecast and ensure stock availability and maintenance of safety stocks 5) Collaboration with Operations team and Marketing Team to execute strategic company projects 6) Ensure category has the most appropriate and competitive range for each banner
During my graduate trainee period, I held the responsibility to drive sales, profitability and inventory turn for 2 categories (Pet Care and Foils and Wraps). In the mean time, I also had the opportunity to work on a project to develop a tool for managing Slow Moving Stocks (SMS) in the company, with special focus on the General Merchandise Department. The tool is expected to be utilised across departments and regions.
