Almende is a research oriented company aiming to spin off in-house development as soon as market potential has been established. The company participates heavily in research programs, both local and european. As a result my job also implies leading and/or participating in these projects. Currently I am mostly involved in smart-grid/energy/comfort related programs, e.g. Inertia, in which a building in Greece is densely populated with sensors and actors and a large dataset is created enabling further research.
DoBots is a company specialising in retrofitting autonomous control systems to motorized utility equipment. The approach is to stay firmly close to the offerings of academia as progress in this field is rapid and closed source solutions delay the adoption of new developments quite quickly. My contribution is being able to make the division between hardware and software enablers from my experience in both electronics and embedded software engineering.
Deal is a spin-off based on the work carried out in a major research programme in the Netherlands under the same name. My involvement pertained to both providing field expertise as a designer and programmer of multi-depot vehicle routing systems, my experience in the deployment of these systems, and as one of the leading architects in designing an agent based solution. Deal as a company has built on this knowledge and implemented a system based on the google app-engine. The system focuses on last minute planning and easy scalebility and management. It is completely web/cloud based.
Regas is a company that makes products aimed at the care sector. The innovation of their products was the main focus of my involvement. I have learned a lot about the changes hitting the dutch care sector at that time, not to forget the new budgettary systems for hospitals.
Worked on the development of the cloud services that Luna uses to provide VM Hosting, selecting team members building a team and buying the specialised hardware and software needed.
