I'm a life-long learner and voracious reader. I'm interested in the creative ways learning can be fostered using technology inside the classroom, at home, and everywhere. I'm an animal lover, roller derby player coach, part-time musician, writer, and 8-bit enthusiast.
The best part about this job is thinking creatively about how to engage students in all kinds of courses and working collaboratively with my colleagues and instructors on how to improve their educational content. Sure, it's important to know technology, but the way things are implemented can have a big impact on underserved populations.
I started working in what we used to call the "e-learning" field only a few years after social media started to take off. We tried out many different platforms at the University of Florida. We used Moodle, Elgg, Wordpress, and eventually Canvas to deliver quality courses to students. I also worked with instructors on all kinds of projects. Everything from creating adaptive learning modules to creating videos to interviewing teachers at their schools.
