About

I'm a builder at heart, whether the thing being built is a software platform, an engineering team, or a mission-driven company. With experience spanning early-stage startups and the Fortune 500, I've led engineering and architected scalable platforms across healthcare, education, fintech, and nonprofit. I move comfortably from a blank repo to a system in production, and from writing the first line of code to leading the team that scales it. Today I'm Founding Engineer and Head of Engineering at Goodword, a relationship-intelligence copilot for people who believe their network is their most valuable asset. We help connectors stay top of mind, make meaningful introductions, and surface opportunities that would otherwise be missed, all while keeping the human touch. As the first engineering hire, I built the platform from 0 to 1: an event-driven, serverless backend (NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL + pgvector, DynamoDB, AWS Lambda + EventBridge + Kinesis), a server-rendered React web app, and a React Native mobile app. On top of it I built the AI and ML systems that make the product intelligent: a graph-and-vector recommendation engine, hybrid semantic search with neural reranking, an LLM interaction-analysis pipeline, agentic chat on LangGraph, and a relationship-warmth scoring model. I've since grown and now lead a team of 6 engineers. I specialize in early-stage product development, AI/ML platform engineering, and building the teams that turn 0-to-1 prototypes into 1-to-100 products. I do my best work where I can have deep impact and shape a product from the ground up. Core expertise: • Full-stack engineering (TypeScript, Node.js/NestJS, React, React Native, C#) • Applied AI/ML (LLM pipelines, Knowledge Graph, RAG/GraphRAG, vector/semantic search, recommender systems) • Event-driven and serverless architecture on AWS • 0-to-1 product development and technical architecture • Building, hiring, and leading engineering teams • Mission-driven innovation

  • Founding Engineer / Head of Engineering at Goodword
    Mar 2024 - Present · 2 yrs 5 mos

Your network is your most valuable asset, but it's scattered across platforms, inboxes, and memory. Goodword brings it into one place, remembers the context, and makes it searchable so you can actually use it. As Goodword's first full-time engineering hire, I own the platform's technical vision and built it from 0 to 1: backend, web, AI/ML systems, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. I've since grown and now lead a team of 6 engineers. What I've built and lead: • Platform: an event-driven, serverless backend (NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL + pgvector, DynamoDB) where the API publishes events to AWS EventBridge that fan out to Lambda services, plus a server-rendered React web app and a React Native (Expo) mobile app sharing one typed API contract. • Recommendation engine: a pluggable, multi-source candidate generator (relationship warmth, Personalized PageRank, network bridges, co-affiliation, warm-intro paths), score-blended, neurally reranked, and diversified into a ranked stack with graceful fallbacks for cold users. • Search and knowledge graph: hybrid vector + keyword search with neural reranking and explainable match reasons, over a relationship graph on PostgreSQL + pgvector using a GraphRAG retrieval pattern. • AI pipelines: an LLM pipeline that turns emails, calendar, calls, and messages into relationship signals; agentic chat on LangGraph; multi-provider LLM routing; and AI-generated relationship stories. • Core product, end to end: warm intros, a self-healing reminders engine, smart groups, profile enrichment and deduplication, third-party data integrations, subscription billing, and an in-person networking mode with QR sharing and OCR capture. • Leadership: a layered evaluation strategy for probabilistic AI features, a strict type-safe codebase, and the hiring, code-review, and culture standards for the engineering team. • Translating early-stage and customer feedback into architecture that's fast to ship now and durable enough to scale.
