Environment manager for a large number of non-production retail management systems across multiple technologies, including Windows, AIX, SQL Server, IIS and DB2. Non-production and production infrastructure managed services were supplied by TATA Consultancy Services, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Computacenter. A number of issues were affecting the non-production environments that resulted in significant testing delays for the new E-commerce programme. Key activities: • Implemented daily off-shore non-production environment checks to ensure systems were online at the start of the working day. This allowed the Indian off-shore team to resolve any issues and ensure the environments were in a working state for testing at the start or the UK working day. • Implemented non-production monitoring using IBM Netcool, BPPM and Microsoft SCOM. The monitoring rule set was based on a combination of the manual environment checks and the production rule set. Large displays showing the current environment health by infrastructure type and RAG status were situated within the TCS and M&S teams. • Reverse engineered BizTalk core application component installation to allow multiple application instances to be hosted. This removed test stream conflict and reduced test lead time by several weeks. • Implemented Managed Service improvements by articulating the requirements, helping them achieve their goals and setting measurable KPIs.
