Product concept development and prototyping for autonomous road delivery vehicle. Human-machine interaction design, workflow design and VR simulation, user research, usability testing, 3D modeling, rigging, and photorealistic rendering of product concepts. Safety analysis, development of product requirements, video production, aerial videography, and still photography.
Developed concepts for human interactions with autonomous mobile robots and explored novel workflows and interfaces for setup and deployment of fleets of robots in industrial settings.
Over the course of my time at Intuitive Surgical, I was deeply involved in designing many of the user-facing aspects of the da Vinci surgical system: workflow development, system behavior design, graphical and physical interfaces, algorithms, and risk analysis and mitigation. My role ranged over several other aspects of product development from concept through release-to-market: needs finding, generating requirements, defining architectures and interaction models, prototyping, iteration and refinement of design concepts, and formal human factors testing. I have been on the teams that developed and released four major Intuitive Surgical product platform releases: da Vinci Xi (2014), da Vinci Si (2009), da Vinci S (2006), and the da Vinci 4th arm (2003).
Avatar Systems, LLC was a small engineering consulting company that I co-created. It was involved in development of wireless data networks for collecting and transmitting weather information, as well as low-cost vehicle monitoring software and hardware for consumers.
