About

I am a specialist consultant in power plant cycle chemistry and water treatment. My main activities involve: • Boiler and water-steam circuit chemistry. • Plant preservation and chemical cleaning. • Demineralised water make-up, condensate polishing, waste water treatment and cooling water treatment. • Environmental compliance and discharges to water. I provide plant specific technical and analytical support and investigations with respect to water-steam cycle chemistry and corrosion and water treatment. This includes the preparation of engineering standards and guidelines, plant status reviews and audits, outage inspections for plant component condition assessment, diagnosis and resolution of problems, equipment specification and environmental monitoring. My work has involved supporting plants in the UK, Europe and worldwide. Outside of Uniper, I am a member of the power plant chemistry committee for the UK and Ireland (BIAPWS). I was also chair of BIAPWS for 4 years up to 2016. This lead to involvement in the international IAPWS organisation and I am now vice-chair of the IAPWS Power Cycle Chemistry Working Group.
