  • Design Manager at Johnson Controls
    Jan 2006 - Jan 2012 · 6 yrs 1 mo

In my role as Design Manager for JCI, I was responsible for the design of all the North American branch offices for the Manpower Group account. That consists of somewhere in the range of 600 - 700 offices of which I probably work on approximately 100-130 projects each year. The size of the offices were typically in the 800 - 2500 sq ft range. The designwork was based on set standards that I had to configure within the new chosen spaces. Also included relinquishment and remodels to existing offices. Other responsibilites included ordering furniture as needed for the offices and occasional headquarters planning support. Very busy, fast paced environment.

In the role as Senior Designer, I had a number of responsibilities. a) I was responsible for gathering and sharing installation information for the MR, CT, Mammography and Ultrasound diagnostic equipment for the design team and installation specialists in the field so they understood how to get the equipment installed. Worked with engineering, marketing, design team and field personnel. b) Was responsible in selecting, mentoring and leading design team of about 12 people so they understood how to create the installation drawings for the diagnostic equipment. Had to translate the information received from the various groups into installation drawings. c) Was the contact for questions regarding the installations of the equipment. d) Was lead designer for larger multi-modality department plans for hospitals, architects, doctors, etc. I would create the overall preliminary floor plans for the diagnostic imaging departments to get the architects starting in their planning for the customer.
