Experienced Project Manager and Development Engineer within the electricity transmission and distribution industries, with over 22 years of experience including operational and business unit management.
Responsible for the Project Services business unit servicing clients across the energy sector as well as supporting clients directly with the development and delivery of their T&D projects.
Accountable for the safe and efficient delivery of a large portfolio of EHV connection projects, stewarding a team of Project Managers throughout the delivery of each of their individual projects. Role includes customer liaison, point of escalation, supporting and mentoring the EHV connections team in delivery, financial reporting and compliance along with commercial and contractual compliance for the programme.
Supporting Northern Powergrid delivering a portfolio of projects ranging from 11kV up to 132kV across their distribution network. Most notably a new 14 bay 132kV GIS substation and the transfer of all existing feeder and GT circuits including the build of replacement National Grid SGT bays.
Responsible for the overall performance of the Transmission sector within the business with an annual turnover of c £7m. Key responsibilities included. • Responsible for the operational aspects of the sector • Establish the business strategy and global marketing of the sector, in association with Project Managers. • Evolve and progress the business strategic plan and annual budget. • Organise sales and development activity with the assistance of Project Managers. • Ensure the execution of the contracts including risk management. • Assist Project Managers in their sales, execution & management of their contracts. • Ensure management and allocation of resources on projects. • Ensure the recruitment and retention of appropriate staff and operatives. • Validate annual training plans and investment. • Responsible for Health & Safety and Quality strategies and implementation. • Oversee the quarterly closing of accounts are completed and validated. • Organise commercial action plans and monthly sales meetings with Project Managers. • Review tenders submitted by Project Managers and validate bids. • Full responsibility for HR and implementation of disciplinary action.
