Joined Shell’s blue-sky digital ventures group to support strategy development and lead creation of customer-centric product propositions from ideation through minimal viable product and proof of concept to start-up or close-down based on value identified. Supported $MM portfolio and led three core projects. Assessed emerging technology applications such as cloud, SaaS, AI, machine learning and data science to build an application to enhance decision making across commodity trading. Completed board-sponsored global supply chain and logistics review to assess platform rationalisation potential and simplify the customer journey. Developed commercially viable carbon advisory and credit offsetting model for non-Shell clients.
Led global business and technology transformation programmes affecting $MBN daily money transactions, over 3,000 staff and 40+ group-wide IT platforms. Worked with senior business, finance, and IT stakeholders and external banking and financial services providers, and defined IT finance strategy and technology roadmap. Managed four end-to-end multi-year $MM major Agile / Waterfall IT change programmes with accountability for bespoke system specification, risk and dependency management, vendor selection, commercial agreements, and large scale onshore and offshore software development and delivery teams. Defined and implemented robust governance, project standards, communication, change, cost control, reporting, performance, and stakeholder management frameworks to drive ahead of scheduled delivery. Programmes included: Delivery of next-generation cash management platform across 32 ERP platforms in 60+ countries. Implementation of the EU Single European Payment Area (SEPA) directive across finance to the deadline. Replacement of internal banking platform handling $1+ trillion payments and receipts per year. Change of corporate global banking partner and implementation of new group currency model covering 40 core and middleware systems, 59 currencies, 400+ bank accounts and 18,000 monthly cash flows.
Advised on strategy, architected solutions, and supported global delivery of new SAP platform to replace central legacy systems and establish one single platform. Worked with group functions, including R&D, HR, Finance, Supply Chain, and Procurement to define requirements and build out technical specifications. Designed customised financial accounting, controlling and material management (FI /CO and MM) modules and remotely managed offshore teams to develop, test and implement solutions aligned with global SAP programme and corporate standards. Played an instrumental role in enabling offshoring of back-office finance functions into Shared Service Centres (SSCs).
Captured business requirements, developed functional and technical specifications, and managed third-party Agile development teams to design, test and deliver customised single instance SAP supply chain management solution covering European supplier base.
