Dr Patwinder Gill obtained her medical degree in Monash University in 2008. Whilst completing her surgical training at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Dr Gill developed an interest in Upper GI and Hepatobiliary surgery. Following the completion of her surgical training, Dr Gill undertook a year of fellowship in Hepatobiliary Surgery at Royal Melbourne Hospital. This provided Dr Gill with skills to manage complex surgical patients and built on the skills for minimally invasive surgery. Dr Gill further developed this interest in her second year of fellowship, undertaking a minimally invasive fellowship in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery with Dr Candice Silverman, Dr King Wong and Dr Michael Ghusn in Tweed Heads Hospital and John Flynn Hospital. She refined her skills in laparoscopic hiatal hernia repair, laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernia repair and commenced her training in bariatric surgery. The following year, Dr Gill undertook her third year of fellowship in Bariatric Surgery, at Box Hill Hospital. During this time, Dr Gill was able to hone her skills further in minimally invasive bariatric surgery, including revision bariatric surgery at this dedicated and high volume centre. Dr Gill has an interest in Bariatric Surgery with experience in Sleeve Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass surgery and single anastomosis duodenal ileostomy (SADI/SIPS) procedures. She also performs minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopic inguinal hernia and ventral hernia repairs, cholecystectomies (gallbladder surgery), hiatus hernia repairs and small bowel resections.
