About

I am an accomplished public health epidemiologist with over 25 years of experience leading infectious disease prevention, outbreak response, and global health programs. My expertise includes clinical trials, molecular epidemiology, tuberculosis and HIV surveillance, field-based, population-based, and operational research in diverse domestic and international settings. I have served as principal investigator or co-investigator on projects totaling more than $30 million, and have authored more than >200 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and policy documents. My leadership roles included: developed and implemented the U.S. national TB molecular surveillance system; guided WHO to develop international standards and benchmarks for tuberculosis surveillance; led outbreak teams during Ebola and COVID-19 responses, and numerous tuberculosis transmission events; empowered and facilitated Ministries of Health to develop national public health policies and strategic plans. As a mentor to numerous Epidemic Intelligence Service officers, fellows, and international trainees, I have prioritized capacity building to ensure sustainable public health impact. My career has consistently bridged rigorous epidemiologic research with programmatic implementation to improve health globally.
