Picture Book Artists Association is an independent organization. Our goals are to create a friendly and supportive community where professional children's book illustrators can share, learn, get exposure for their work, connect with teachers and librarians, and gain recognition among the publishing industry and general public. PBAA currently consists of two parts: the PicBookArts listserv and the PictureBookArtists.org website. For years, freelance artists have worked in isolation. PicBookArts creates a sense of unity and keeps us up-to-date on issues facing illustrators today. Members share information about promotion, contracts, materials, techniques, pricing, digital media, art directors, publishers, etc. We're busy, working artists, so there are moderators and rules to keep us on subject.
As a graphic artist/illustrator working primarily in the children's market I have created board games, toys, puzzles, t-shirts, greeting cards, posters, and over 200 children's books as well as assignments for editorial and institutional clients. I have produced original artwork for everything from corporate logos to museum exhibits, temporary tattoos to coffee mugs, and even an entire city bus. My clients include Sesame Street Magazine, National Geographic World, Kid City, Spider, Weekly Reader, Highlights, USA Today, Click, Scholastic, Oxford University Press, Purdue University, Chicago Botanic Gardens and many others. My work can be found in museum exhibits, magazines, greeting cards, t-shirts, games, toys, puzzles, odd scraps of paper, the margins of newspapers, and on my Mom's refrigerator door.
