I have a career of more than 30 year in BP from being a project engineer, team leader of several teams to Engineering Authority within Safety&Operational Risk. Currently as Sr. Mechanical Engineer I use my knowledge and experience to support Petchem licensing and major projects around the world as part of a multicultural team. With my strong technical background and Safety&Operational Risk experience, I like to work in team searching for continuous improvement and innovative solutions keeping focus on safe operations. When changing role, I look for opportunities to learn and develop myself and motivate myself to overcome new challenges. I find it important to relate to the frontline of the operating units as well to technical specialists within the organization. After I completed a master in science in mechanical engineering I started my career at Amoco Geel Belgium in 1988. I started as a project engineer leading several projects on several units in the Geel Plant. Later on I was responsible for managing technical documentation and technical practices of the GEEL Site as a mechanical technical authority and had supervision over the drafting and documentation team. In that period I further developed knowledge on process safety as Hazop leader, Lopa Leader and Phsser leader. The following three years I was leading the inspection department as inspection supervisor and act as inspection authority on mechanical integrity issues. In 2012 I joined Deployed S&OR as the Geel Site Engineering Authority leading several S&OR ﴾Safety&Operational Risk﴿ assurance activities and manage the technical practice portofolio on the GEEL Site. In 2018 I became the project Engineering Authority for a mega project in BP refinery in Rotterdam to install a new hydrocracker complex. In that role I was leading the S&OR assurance activities for the mega project. In 2020 I became Sr. Mechanical Engineer in Petchems R&T to support the Petchem licensing business, support Petchem operating sites and supporting major projects within Petchems. At the beginning of 2021 BP Petchem became INEOS Aromatics.
- Leading a global team of Senior Rotating Equipment ,Mechanical and material & Corrosion engineers at the Engineeering & Technology department of INEOS Aromatics. With this mechanical engineering team we are giving worldwide support to the five INEOS Aromatics operating Sites and one R&T Site. We are giving engineering support to global improvement programs, major projects, Licensing projects and individual Site support. Additionally I am leading the corrosion & materials improvement and RBI program to globally improve the inspection programs on the different operating sites.
- Being responsible for providing specialist Mechanical engineering expertise to projects or operations, including maintenance, inspection and turnaround, proactively interacting with other disciplines, teams, subfunctions and contractors to systematically resolve problems and applying advanced engineering judgement to assist in setting and implementing engineering technical practices, and drive integrated, pragmatic solutions focused on risk management, operating efficiency, defect elimination and standardisation. ‐ Supporting expansion and growth projects as Lead Mechanical engineer of licensing of BP's PTA Technology to third parties ﴾DongYing China﴿ ‐ Supporting new PTA technology development PTA G5 as a sr. mechanical engineer ‐ being Petrochemicals SME ﴾subject matter expert﴿ for Piping discipline
* From march 2018 to December 2019: - Project Engineering Authority ﴾EA﴿ of a mega project ﴾1.5 Billion $﴿ at BP Rotterdam refinery to install a new hydrocracker complex at the Site with following job accountabilities: - Implement role in accordance with BP Practice 5.0‐0001 Engineering Integrity. - Leading the S&OR assurance process as identified in the Pcp Integrated Stage Gate Review ﴾ISGR﴿ workbooks for the project MAIN, including monitoring Safety&Operational Risk management processes and integrating the assurance with the PHSSER stage gate reviews. - Agree on the suite of technical practices relevant to the project and agree on deviations of engineering requirements as specified in the relevant ETP/STP Control Procedure. - Involve S&OR experts to provide deep technical expertise in service of setting and implementing engineering requirements and executing the assurance scope. Intervene and escalate as appropriate to cause corrective action. - Initiate the S&OR Briefing Note with recommendation and justification to go to the next project stage. * From July 2012 till May 2018: - Act as deployed S&OR Engineering Authority ﴾EA﴿ for the Petchem Geel Site: - Execute and report on barrier and topic assurances according to S&OR assurance plan - Act as Project EA on the Lion King Project ﴾+/‐ 50MM$ project﴿ - Set up and implement the ETP/STP control procedure for the Site. - Served as Inspection Authority for static/rotating equipment/Piping/Structural/Relief systems until dec 2013. - Served as Technical Authority for the Site for the mechanical discipline ﴾pressure equipment, piping, rotating equipment﴿ and being first contact for civil/structural discipline.
- Inspection Supervisor leading the Site inspection department ﴾+/‐ 7 people + 4 inhouse contractors﴿ ensuring an independent view on integrity and quality assurance of pressure equipment of the Site. - Inspection Authority for static/rotating equipment/Piping/Structural/Relief systems according to GP 32‐30 role description - Implement mandatory inspection practice GP 32‐30 based on detailed action plan and gap analyses and implement the inspection technical practices GP 32‐xx. - Served as Technical Authority for the Site for the mechanical discipline ﴾pressure equipment, piping, rotating equipment﴿ and being first contact for civil/structural discipline.
