I've spent nearly two decades at Holcim — one of the world's largest building materials companies — growing from hands-on system engineer to leading the cloud platform and digital workplace function at a global level. The constant through my career: taking complex, legacy environments and modernising them. I led Holcim's first major Citrix-to-AWS migration back in 2016, before "cloud-first" was more than a conference slide. From there I built out the DevOps and SRE practices that now underpin the company's digital products, introduced CI/CD as a standard at global/corporate level, and at one point owned SAP delivery alongside cloud engineering — which means I've seen a lot more of the IT landscape than the "cloud guy" label might suggest. Today I lead a global team of Cloud Engineers, SREs, and Digital Workplace/Local IT specialists. What I enjoy most is enabling the business to move in whatever direction they need, and helping team members grow into the roles they want. Setting the strategic direction for both the cloud infrastructure powering Holcim's digital products and how the workforce interacts with technology day-to-day — endpoint management, collaboration tools, and modern workplace services. Driving the adoption of DevOps, SRE, and observability practices across the organisation.
Led a multidisciplinary global team spanning Cloud Engineers, SREs, Project/Product Managers, and a SAP Product Engineer. Key achievements: Introduced DevOps practices at the Global/Corporate level — shifting the organisation from traditional ops to CI/CD-driven delivery across multiple product teams. Owned SAP delivery at Global/Corporate level, including evaluation of new SAP solutions and execution of complex technical upgrades for business-critical financial and operational services. Migrated a key application from Heroku to Holcim's AWS environment using cloud-native services, improving cost-effectiveness and security posture. Modernised multiple legacy EC2-based workloads to AWS-native architectures with full CI/CD pipelines. Managed stakeholders across business units as Service Delivery Manager for key corporate accounts.
Managed a portfolio of global and corporate IT projects, including SAP Financial Consolidations — a critical service for the company's financial reporting across all markets. Contributed to the strategic migration of corporate workloads to AWS and provided technical leadership for Citrix environments.
IT support for private and corporate clients. Developed web solutions and internal tools using PHP, MySQL, CSS, and HTML. This is where I learned how to talk to non-technical people about technical problems — a skill that turned out to be more valuable than any certification.
