Experienced sports journalist through internships at NBC Sports Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Inqurier and my current position at the Press of Atlantic City. In short, I have a demonstrated history of working in the sports media industry, in particular journalism. I also have strong communication skills, work well with others, am detail-oriented and enjoy learning new things in the journalistic field.
With the Press, I mainly cover high school sports in Atlantic, Ocean, Cape May and southern Ocean counties in New Jersey. The job includes writing both feature articles and game stories. Along with that experience, I work in the newsroom doing write-ups on daily high school or local college games. I also cover a wide variety of other sporting events, at various levels, and can excel at whatever beat I am given.
Corner Pub Sports was a podcast that primarily covered the sports teams in Philadelphia. It is gained traction with ver the years. through social media and its weekly podcast. It had a blog that I wrote for. I also provided some content for its social media channels, specifically Facebook and Twitter. Along with written communication, I have gained sturdy verbal communication through podcast exposure.
With the Inquirer, I covered South Jersey high school sports. By going to multiple schools in a week, I was tasked with writing both feature articles and game stories. The experience strengthened my writing and interviewing skills, especially on deadline.
Before financial trouble caused it to go on permanent hiatus, I served on the sports department for i.d.e.a.l Magazine Company, which produces a magazine focused on the disabled community. I have interviewed and written stories on various Paralympic athletes, directors, coaches and other sports related figures who face adversity and overcame their disability.
At NBC Sports Philadelphia (CSN Philly when I interned there), I gained valuable knowledge that greatly enhanced my writing skills. I mainly worked in the newsroom, writing and editing articles, transcribing player interviews, and searching for the latest news and compelling content. I also gained experience with Photoshop and the content management system (Drupal) used to maintain the website.
