      • Executive responsible for a 300-person organization delivering all core protection and detection technology for all Symantec products. • Revolutionized Symantec’s protection stack, making it the best in the world and won reviews from SE Labs, AV Test, AV Comparative, PC Magazine, and Gartner. • Created many new technologies that were the first in the industry, including file reputation, a real-time machine learning behavioral engine, static file machine learning detection, system cleanup tools. • Enabled customer and the industry to understand and see the new technology through worldwide press and reviewer tours. • Key member of company 5 year strategy project, Envision 2019, chartered by the CEO. • Personally designed, led, and executed a security audit of 100 products in Symantec to review and upgrade the security and engineering practices of all products with report outs to the CEO and board.

      2006 - 2008 · 2 yrs

      • Manager and technical lead for a team of 30 engineers for the malware detection engines, IPS, file system filter drivers, firewall, product update component, service host framework, file compression libraries, and repair engines. • Engines ran on Windows, MacOS, and Linux in email, network gateways, and endpoint products from Symantec across the enterprise and consumer business units. • Led the security half of a JV with a large network company to integrate Symantec’s engines into the vendors hardware platform. JV had a successful exit in 4 years growing to a $1B+ valuation.
