Experience

  • Engineer at PJM Interconnection
    Sep 2011 - Present · 14 yrs 10 mos

    - Actively participated in the development of the yearly Reserve Requirement Study (RRS). The development process included building the base case, performing the analysis, explaining and presenting the results in front of the Resource Adequacy Analysis Subcommittee, and the Planning Committee. The main output of the study, the Installed Reserve Requirement, is one of the key inputs for the Reliability Pricing Model (RPM). - Actively participated in the development of the Capacity Objective Transfer Objective (CETO) Studies prior to each RPM auction. The CETO is used to calculate the Reliability Requirement (RR) of each zone in the PJM footprint. The RR is another key input for RPM. - Performed the Demand Response (DR) targets analysis prior to each RPM auction. The DR targets are also an input for RPM. In addition of performing the analysis, I streamlined the code in Python for faster performance. - Represented PJM in Interregional Groups such as NPCC’s CP-8 and SERC, attending meetings as needed and responding to data/feedback requirements in a timely fashion. - Led in the development of the biennial NERC ProbA Study. The NERC ProbA Study is a multi-year LOLE Study that PJM currently performs in conjunction with NPCC. The study is performed in GE-MARS, a Monte-Carlo based reliability software tool in which I am proficient. - Performed a number of ad-hoc LOLE related studies as requested by PJM stakeholders as well as other PJM departments such as Capacity Market Operations and Generation. - Interacted with external organizations such as GE and EPRI that have performed reliability studies commissioned by PJM.
