My assignment from the Shanghai New World Group Co., LTD is to reposition the ground floor of an already existing department store on Nanjing Road (130.000sqm), and we have planned a distinct trading-up with the goal to be finished in autumn 2011. Furthermore, the Shanghai New World Group bought a property worth Euro 400 Millions, which is also on Nanjing Road but further north close to the Bund. Here we plan a completely new department store (between 80.000 and 90.000sqm) similar to the KaDeWe in Berlin or Harrod’s in London in its appearance. This means Shanghai New World Group Co., Ltd. wish to establish their own department store brand in China, which does not need to fear the comparison with the top 10 department stores in the world. According to the current plans the department store shall be finished by autumn 2012, which means the time schedule for the project is very ambitious and , if realized successfully, it will not be the last one in China.
