I am a Communications, Media and Advocacy Specialist. I have 20 years of experience in various communications fields, including broadcast journalism, international public relations and communications, social media management and mentorship for young journalists and PR practitioners. I have worked for both international and local media houses in Kenya (Baraka FM, KBC, BBC and Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation in Norway). During the 2022 elections in Kenya, I vied as a gubernatorial aspirant in Taita Taveta County. Though I did not make it as a governor, the experience left me a better person, politically. We live to fight another day. I currently serve as IGAD Executive secretary (Dr. Workneh) spokesperson. I hold a Master's Degree in International Public Relations and Global Communication Management from Cardiff University, UK (Class of 2020, Distinction). Before then, I pursued a Master’s Course in International Studies and Diplomacy at the University of Nairobi. I also hold a Bachelor's degree in Electronic Media from Daystar University (Class of 2006). When all is said and done, I want to be remembered as an easy, fun-loving human being who appreciated the beauty of being alive, taking photos and enjoying the sun 😊 You can also find me on Twitter- @NyangePatience Get in touch.
Currently serving as the Spokesperson for IGAD's Executive Secretary, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu.
The Association of Media Women in Kenya (AMWIK) brings together over 400 women in the media to pull their professional skills in giving visibility to women’s concerns. These members are drawn from different parts of Kenya and work with other media associations and community networks across the 47 Kenyan counties. AMWIK recognizes that gender inequality and inequity undermine development and that media is a powerful tool for social change and agenda-setting, which we use to create public awareness around key issues affecting women to ensure public support and appreciation.
