I’m a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Utah interested in process engineering internships, particularly in the food & beverage and consumer product manufacturing industries. At the University of Utah, I’ve built skills in Python, Excel, and Fusion 360, while also making connections that led me to join the K-12 Chemical Engineering Outreach team eventually becoming Vice President and work in the Chemical Engineering Department’s project and process labs as a Student Lab Manager. As a Student Lab Manager, I work with many of the chemical engineering “staples” (PFRs, CSTRs, heat exchangers, and distillation columns) assisting juniors and seniors with operating equipment for their lab assignments. I also had the opportunity to collaborate with the Energy and Geoscience Institute’s Geospiral Project, where I used an Opto 22 control system to collect data from 15 thermocouples and control a water pump with a variable frequency drive. In my role as Vice President and Head of Module Development for the K-12 Chemical Engineering Outreach team, I get the rewarding opportunity to share my love of STEM with students across the state of Utah and oversee the development of new teaching materials for STEM fairs and classroom visits.
● Improve and manage the Chemical Engineering Department's teaching labs in partnership with the Department’s lab and equipment manager ● Assist students in navigating the lab and troubleshooting issues during junior and senior year lab classes ● Design and maintain control systems and user interfaces that allow students to easily operate equipment and collect data from various sensors ● Conduct regular performance tests on laboratory equipment and coordinate with manufacturers to repair or replace faulty or obsolete units ● Develop and write standard operating procedures for laboratory equipment
● Conduct workshop sessions across Utah and neighboring states, introducing chemical engineering and STEM concepts to students ● Manage the development of new teaching demonstrations and experiments, collaborating with Outreach team members to transform ideas into curriculum-relevant educational tools ● Assist the President with submission of modules to the AIChE national competition by cataloging module progress and adapting modules to meet competition requirements ● Maintain an organized system for event materials, to improve and simplify event preparation
● Demonstrated teamwork and organization by working with a team to maintain county facilities
