Pamellah Dio worked for the County Government of Taita Taveta for four years as County Chief Officer for Mining, Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources. She is an environmentalist and other natural resources conservationist with about eleven years experience (before & after University) . She has a MSc. in Environmental Management from the Open University, United Kingdom. She trained in advanced international training on Integrated Sustainable Coastal Development, strategic leadership development and Basic Environmental Compliance. She won a national award on Land, Environment and Climate Change. Previously, she worked as a research assistant, field assistant and a volunteer in conservation work around Taita Taveta County with various organizations and individuals. For instance, Professor Kimberly E. Medley of Miami University, USA, National Museums of Kenya, Volunteer Serving Organization (VSO), National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Kenya Forests Service (KFS). She also worked with Nature Kenya (the East Africa Natural history Society) as a site conservation officer in Taita Hills Forests important bird area. The activities under her purview were biodiversity monitoring, environmental education in schools, and community empowerment to participate in conservation work. Pamellah is 2013 Alumni of the USA based US Government International Visitor Leadership Program on Environmental Protection & Biodiversity Conservation. She is a member of Nature Kenya, Youth for Conservation and Undugu Mentorship Initiative. She is also a fellow with Akili Dada 2013 fellowship program which serves as a social entrepreneurship incubator providing financial, intellectual, mentoring, and networking resources with the aim to be nurtured as young global transformational leader. Pamellah delights in mentoring young people in schools, field expeditions, writing articles, and community service.

1). Support Kenya office communication to promote Kenya programme and the organisation. Help managers to gather information, generate briefs and responses to internal and external enquiries/comms relating to FFI Kenya programme, projects and funds as needed. I also support review of donor reports and lead in the development and implementation of country and project level communication plans. 2). Support Kenya office operations, admin and finance. Compile Kenya staff annual Targets & Objectives matrix, organise and facilitate quarterly meetings, develop and maintain country contact database and support data management system 3). Provide technical support to Kenya projects, programme and activities, in line with FFI protocols, policies and procedures. Provide input in the development and implementation of specific projects and initiatives (including through desk research and assessments. 4). Support managers in capacity assessments for project partners and implementation of capacity building recommendations. Provide support in partners' organizational capacity assessment and conducting partners due diligence as well drafting sub grant agreements. 5) Support institutional processes. Coordinate participation in Africa team meetings including development of briefs through slides.
Engaging and supporting the Tsavo Landscape conservancies in holistic and sustainable natural resource management for improved livelihoods through fundraised projects on nature-based enterprises, food including livestock production, climate change including carbon trade, ecosystem rehabilitation, education and general economic empowerment. Capacity building 33member ranches/conservancies in governance, processes and leadership development through training after conducting organizational capacity assessment.
As the first county chief officer for Mining, Environment, Natural resources, Trade and Community affairs, I: Participated in developing, implementing a four year strategic plan, evaluated annual programmes and projects planning worth 600m and supervised over 100 projects in the county. Contributed to the developed of the National climate change act 2016, county climate change and adaptation plan, County Environment policy, county forests transition implementation plan, county environment action plan and departmental organizational structure to implement the mandate of the ministry. Built and strengthened partnerships with various stakeholders including government agencies (USAID, JICA, Kenya Market Trust, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forests Service, National Environment Management Authority, Water Resource Management Authority, Kenya Forest Research Institute, Taita Taveta University, National Museums of Kenya, TAVEVO Water and sewerage Company), private and community organizations (Helsinki University Taita Research Centre, Nature Kenya, Akili Dada, Tsavo Conservation Network, BEACON, Wildlife Works, African Wildlife Foundation, Management of Arid Zones Initiatives and Development Options International, Ranchers Associations, Tsavo conservation Group, VSO Kenya, Dawida Biodiversity Conservation Group which was founded by Pamellah Dio and the local community and monitored service delivery, 20 construction and over 100 environmental conservation projects in the county. Handled administrative, human resource (recruitment and disciplinary process) and asset management issues, and oversaw preparation of 4 annual work plans, procurement plans and financial budgets ensuring strict compliance with all financial, budgetary and procurement procedures.
