As a mechanical engineering intern at Avista, I had the responsibility for compiling a report on the health of the distribution side of the power grid that energizes the vast majority of the inland Northwest. This involved analyzing demand data, outage information and critical infrastructure. I also had the opportunity to do many tours of power generation facilities, engage in professional learning sessions, and experience some of the many career opportunities a utility has to offer through job shadowing.
