  • Summer Engineering Intern at Airport Authority Hong Kong
    Jun 2025 - Aug 2025 · 3 mos

During my eight-week internship with Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) in the Third Runway System EMS team, I gained hands-on experience in both technical electrical engineering work and collaborative project development. Within my department, I assisted the electrical team in reviewing method statements, drawing, material, and schematic submissions, as well as architectural general arrangement floor plans. I identified technical gaps such as missing acceptance criteria, calibration certificates, incomplete cable containment layouts, and signage discrepancies. I also supported the review of LV system schematics and power meter locations for metering and cost allocation purposes. In addition, I prepared a presentation on MiMEP modular cable containment installation and participated in site inspections, testing, and commissioning activities including EV chargers, UPS, LV gensets, MCC testing, safety inspections, isolator feasibility checks, and EPD inspections of gensets. Another part of the internship was a group project with other interns, where I was selected as the leader of Group 9. Our task was to create a video detailing promotional approaches for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Although I had previous teamwork experience from studying mechanical engineering, producing a promotional video was completely new to me. The open-ended nature of the task made it challenging at first, so I organised discussions, suggested initial ideas, and set out a basic filming workflow to help the team move forward. After responsibilities were assigned, team members began contributing their own creative ideas, such as using airport display screens and OLED display on the walls the metro tunnel for longer advertisement. My role gradually shifted to coordination and integration, ensuring fair workload distribution and steady progress. This experience helped me realise that effective leadership is about providing direction and support, rather than controlling every detail.

  • Summer Internship at The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas)
    Jul 2024 - Sep 2024 · 3 mos

During my summer internship at Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited (Towngas), I worked across multiple departments, gaining exposure to data analysis, automation, reporting, and customer-facing operations. I was primarily attached to the Customer Installation and Enquiries Department, where I prepared analytical reports and presentations on the defect rates and performance of gas appliances such as cooker hoods and range hoods, contributing to technician performance reviews. I also developed Robotic Process Automation (RPA) workflows to streamline repetitive tasks, including an automated Excel-to-Word reporting system and database filtering for order processing, improving efficiency and reducing manual workload. Beyond my home department, I collaborated with teams in Commercial and Industrial Marketing Department where I visited many large industrial applications of towngas such as hospital and theme parks, the Business Analytics & e-Development Department, where I assisted in identifying potential housing estates suitable for appliance replacement and the Retail Marketing & Sales Department where I supported in-store customer engagement by explaining the advantages and limitations of different gas appliances to meet customer needs. I also participated in general office duties, handled large datasets, and learned how Towngas integrates technical analysis with commercial decision-making. In addition, I volunteered in a community gardening service organised by the company, gaining insight into Towngas’s commitment to social responsibility. Throughout the internship, I adapted quickly to new environments, worked effectively in teams, and demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and strong communication skills while applying analytical thinking in a real industrial setting.
