Historian, media researcher, and PhD candidate specializing in the intersection of history, cinema, and national identity. My research focuses on the representation of historical narratives, gender roles, collective memory, and nation-building processes in film, with a particular emphasis on Finnish and Turkish cinema. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Radio, Television, and Cinema and continue my research as a visiting researcher at the University of Turku, Finland. My work explores how cinema shapes public understandings of history and how cultural narratives are constructed through visual media. Through comparative research, I examine the ways historical films contribute to the formation of national identities and social memory across different cultural contexts. Prior to my doctoral studies, I worked as a specialist at the Atatürk Research Center, where I edited academic publications, coordinated scholarly projects, and contributed to the organization of symposiums, congresses, panels, and cultural events. I also served as Editor of the Journal of Atatürk Research Center and worked as Project Coordinator for the online Atatürk Encyclopedia and the Encyclopedia of the Turkic World, overseeing content development, academic coordination, and editorial processes. These experiences provided extensive expertise in academic publishing, research management, and knowledge dissemination. My professional background includes teaching history and serving in public administration, particularly in the field of civil society relations. Through positions within district and provincial governorships in Türkiye, I collaborated with non-governmental organizations and developed expertise in public engagement, project coordination, and institutional cooperation. Alongside my academic and professional activities, I have actively contributed to civil society through leadership, founding, and board-member roles in various associations. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to connecting academic research with public dialogue and community engagement. My research interests include historical cinema, gender representation, media and cultural history, collective memory, national identity, and Finnish–Turkish comparative studies. I am always interested in academic collaboration, interdisciplinary research, and international scholarly networks.
