Medik8 is the journey of a lifetime for me. I joined at the point where its vision and mission were becoming clear – to be the most effective, ethical skincare brand in the world – and I have spent over 15 years establishing its world-class operational capabilities to achieve that. From outsourced manufacturing and development, we created laboratories, manufacturing and distribution centres, complemented by a bespoke ERP system, to control the full vertical from product conception to customer. We call it “Think Lab Make Tell”, and now serve 15 markets in EMEA, APAC and North America with >250 SKUs across D2C, e-tailer and retailer channels. Our next step is the launch of a 100,000 sq ft Innovation Centre which will combine our R&D, manufacturing, supply chain and logistics capabilities under one roof, enabling both agility and lean ways of working for us to continue to innovate rapidly and grow fast. Sustainability has long been at the core of Medik8’s vision. In 2018, we challenged ourselves to become a world leader in sustainable skincare products, immediately transforming all of our packaging to recycled or FSC certified paper. Now embarking on an ambitious multi-pillar sustainability strategy, every part of our new Innovation Centre has been focused on protecting the environment, including a number of industry-first initiatives that will significantly reduce our ventilation system’s energy consumption, and a water treatment plan that will save hundreds of thousands of litres a year. I oversee a talented team across logistics, manufacturing, and supply chain functions, who are the driving force behind so many of Medik8’s most exciting projects, and I really enjoy the opportunity to lead by example and mentor operational leaders of the future.
I was a key member of NSPCC’s marketing function, analysing donor behaviour through data mining, segmentation and statistical analysis, financial reporting and forecasting, enabling the organisation to optimise marketing activity and resources. Major projects include the implementation of new data mining software, which streamlined workflows and improved efficiency.
I led the establishment of a distribution centre for APDT’s aftermarket business which facilitated 2.5x revenue growth and delivered double-digit increase in customer satisfaction through improved lead times and service levels. Key to its success was procurement of the aftermarket bought-out range of over 900 products, set up within two months and generating 15% cost improvement.
