At TABILAB, I contribute to interdisciplinary research at the intersection of natural language processing, machine learning, and bioinformatics. My work supports the lab’s mission to develop AI-driven approaches for understanding and analyzing complex biological and textual data. Key responsibilities: • Assisting in the design and implementation of models for computational biology and biomedical NLP tasks. • Engaging in data preprocessing, evaluation, and reproducible experimentation. • Collaborating with researchers on ongoing projects in AI for life sciences.
Elected Student Representative in Boğaziçi University’s Student Representative Council (ÖTK), actively advocating for student rights, addressing academic and social concerns, organizing initiatives such as mentorship programs, student seminars, game nights, boat parties, and securing sponsorships to improve student spaces like the student lounge.
• Developed backend components in Python to support the Algorithm Marketplace platform. • Implemented a Celery-based task automation system to trigger and manage logical alarms. • Built a stand-alone microservice for data migration after a legacy service was retired. • Designed a caching mechanism that improved processing speed by roughly 55%. • Created internal tools to monitor solver migration performance and participated in Agile sprint planning and code reviews.
Assisting students in learning foundational programming concepts using Python in Cmpe150, including basic algorithms, control structures, data types, and problem-solving techniques. Supporting coursework by providing help during lab sessions and exams, debugging code, and clarifying programming concepts.
Gained foundational experience in optimizing databases and writing SQL queries to enhance system performance. Acquired foundational knowledge in virtual machines and containerization, including their role in scalable and efficient software deployment.
