Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) · Contract · Remote Appointed to lead competitive research proposal development aligned with Botswana Vision 2036 — the country's national development framework to 2036 — with focus areas spanning: → Animal Sciences, Animal Health, Welfare and Production → Veterinary Medicine and Food Security → Meat Science, Meat Safety and Meat Quality → Agricultural Innovation and Sustainable Development Responsible for identifying and submitting funding applications to national, regional, and international funding authorities to secure resources for approved research activities. In parallel, delivering online lectures and public seminar presentations to BUAN students — supporting capacity building, knowledge transfer, and academic enrichment within the university and across the Southern African region. This appointment extends my research impact beyond Nigeria and Germany into the African development agenda at a national policy level.
Leading end-to-end project management for WTS's animal welfare funding programme across the Africa network — overseeing a portfolio of partner-led projects from the proposal stage through to completion and reporting. Key responsibilities: → Issuing and reviewing project proposals from African partner organisations; coordinating approval with senior leadership and WTS team → Managing contract processes, payment instructions, financial reporting templates, and partner bank documentation → Monitoring project progress and partner compliance; reviewing receipts, expenditure reports, and supporting corrections → Writing and updating project content for the WTS website; liaising with communications team on new project launches → Coordinating the African Universities Network for Animal Welfare through email and WhatsApp communications, and a maintained network database → Planning and delivering webinars — including registration management, Q&A coordination, and follow-up → Social Media Manager → Development and review of the Animal Welfare Teaching Modules
Built and launched a knowledge monetization community for educated African and diaspora professionals, helping members transform academic CVs and research expertise into digital income streams using AI — based on a personal discovery that my own CV contained 30 untapped income opportunities. Created and delivered a 10-masterclass curriculum (AWAKEN → BUILD → ACCELERATE) covering AI tools, personal branding, content creation, and the PROSPECT METHOD™ for turning expertise into online income. In 2019, I co-founded Animal Welfare Group Nigeria (AWGN) — the first professional network dedicated to advancing animal behaviour and welfare research, education, and advocacy across Nigeria. What started as a small community of students and researchers has grown into a nationally recognised platform with a global reach. Our three founding missions: → Foster collaboration among animal behaviour and welfare researchers in Nigeria → Raise awareness of the field across Africa and internationally → Educate the public on the ethical and scientific importance of animal welfare What we have built since 2019: · Virtual webinars programme featuring invited speakers from institutions worldwide · Virtual Inagural Lecturers programme featuring reknowned animal welfare Scientists worldwide · Panel discussion series exploring animal welfare policy, science, and practice AWGN represents my belief that African researchers must lead the conversation on animal welfare in Africa — not just participate in it.
