Camera Systems Research Engineer in the Team Bath Drones research team. I worked on the development of a compact camera system for a Search and Rescue drone which interfaced a visual and thermal camera to a Raspberry Pi to capture data. This experienced shaped up my dissertation project where I continued to work on and develop a Hybrid Image Recognition camera system which fused visual and thermal images together and passed them through a saliency algorithm to generate regions on interest on an image. (more details can be found in my Accomplishments - Projects section) Beyond this, I also worked on a small scale prototype for a VTOL to Fixed-Wing transition drone learning the skills necessary to build up a drone using custom parts manufactured structural parts to hold off the shelf components as well as being able to generate a bit of ground work for an experimental transition aircraft.
I worked as a Manufacturing and Electrical Engineer at Saitech working on the development of a customised induction motor used to spin an in-house developed air compressor for air conditioning units. This company was a start up looking to create a more environmentally friendly air conditioning units for the Kuwait market. Through this time, I spent many long hours in the workshop working on machining parts for the compressor as well as designing and building an induction motor to meet the torque and speed characteristics that were necessary.
This was a leadership role I was voted into by the members of the club where I was required to arrange the logistics associated with attending a range of national competitions within the UK as well as selecting and managing the teams to go to these. This required me to make logical and firm decisions on whom to take by assessing their skill as well as their desire to grow.
