I am an independent comics creator and editor. My debut GN Grand Slam Romance, created with my wife Emma Oosterhous, was published by Surely Books in 2023, with two more books coming in the series. I have been commissioned to create comics by Rebellion, the British Library, UK Research and Innovation, and the University of Dundee. I am an excellent editor, communicator, and researcher, with a specialised interest in girls' comics and an extensive knowledge of British and American girls' titles and a PhD in British and American Girls' Comics, undertaken at the University of Dundee. I have worked as a Graphic Novels Editor at Rebellion, working on 2000 AD collected editions and the British Treasury of Comics titles. Prior to starting my PhD I was a comics editorial assistant at DC Thomson and worked on Beano, Commando and Epic Magazine. I also have experience book selling. I have a first class degree in Creative Writing from Manchester Metropolitan University, and a MLitt (Distinction) from the University of Dundee in Comics Studies.
Writing, drawing and editing comics freelance. Have worked with Abrams Books, Rebellion and Discord Comics, as well as self publishing a number of comics and zines.
Youth Worker and project lead with Comics Youth. Since January I have taken lead of the Marginal Changemakers project with combines youth work with activism within publishing.
Teaching Film Studies (Classical Hollywood) and Comics Studies, marking essays, preparing classes and lectures.
Researching British and American Girls comics, and creating comics.
