I’m a dedicated and motivated 3rd-year BSc Physiotherapy student with a passion for building strong relationships with patients and delivering high-quality care. I bring a positive attitude to every aspect of my work, and I am driven by a desire to help others while continuously expanding my knowledge in the field of physiotherapy. Throughout my studies, I’ve had the opportunity to complete three clinical placements, which have strengthened my practical skills and deepened my understanding of patient care. One of my proudest moments as a student was being the first to identify a patient at risk of cauda equina syndrome, showcasing my attention to detail and commitment to patient safety. As I continue my studies, I am focused on completing my degree and pursuing a career within the NHS, where I hope to contribute to the well-being of patients with honesty, professionalism, and empathy. My goal is to make a meaningful impact through physiotherapy, combining my skills with my passion for helping others. Outside of my academic pursuits, I am the captain of my volleyball team, enjoy playing piano, and am currently learning new languages, including French, Cantonese, and Korean. These hobbies allow me to stay balanced and continue challenging myself both personally and professionally.
As a qualified Sports Massage Therapist with a Level 3 qualification, I specialize in deep tissue, trigger point, and myofascial release techniques. My freelance work primarily involves providing pre- and post-event massages for student athletes, allowing me to demonstrate my independence and commitment to high-quality rehabilitation and treatment. Through this experience, I have improved my skills in assessing individual needs and tailoring my approach to optimise athletic performance and recovery. This role has reinforced my passion for supporting athletes in their journey to achieve their goals.
I worked on the chronic pain and rehabilitation team. following a patients rehab journey on a 3 week programme from admission to discharge. Leading educational talks on explaining chronic pain and why it occurs.
In my third placement focused on neuro rehabilitation with inpatients, I significantly enhanced my manual handling skills, deepened my understanding of neurological conditions, and refined my clinical reasoning for assessment and intervention. I worked with a diverse range of patients, primarily those recovering from strokes and spinal cord injuries. One of the biggest challenges I faced was adapting to the high academic expectations associated with neurology, but this motivated me to learn extensively about various neurological pathologies. A standout achievement during this placement was my innovative approach to rehabilitation; I independently took a patient off-site to play football as part of their therapy, which effectively improved their dynamic balance. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team—including doctors, nurses, speech and language therapists (SLT), occupational therapists (OT), and psychologists—allowed me to further develop my clinical reasoning and assessment skills. This experience has reinforced my understanding of the importance of treating patients holistically, recognizing that no two strokes are the same. I will carry these insights forward in my career as a physiotherapist.
In my second placement in an outpatient musculoskeletal (MSK) setting, I aimed to enhance my independence as a student physiotherapist while working with a diverse range of patients, including post-surgery cases, athletes, and the general population. A significant highlight of this experience was my proactive identification of a patient with cauda equina syndrome, which I was the first to flag within the team. This demonstrated not only my growing clinical understanding but also my commitment to patient safety. Through this placement, I have gained increased confidence in my responsibilities as a student physiotherapist. Interacting with a variety of cases has reinforced my understanding of the importance of thorough assessment and timely intervention, skills that I will carry forward into my future clinical practice.
During my initial placement, I developed a strong clinical foundation in respiratory care, clinical reasoning, and the interdisciplinary aspects of physiotherapy. Working in the ICU with post-surgery patients, I gained firsthand experience with the complexities of patient recovery, which was both challenging and inspiring. My biggest achievement was successfully completing this intensive placement and presenting my findings to the team, which helped solidify my understanding of effective, patient-centered care. Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team—including speech and language therapists (SLT), occupational therapists (OT), doctors, and nurses—provided me with a holistic perspective on patient care and reinforced the importance of teamwork in clinical settings. Witnessing the remarkable improvements of patients in the ICU was inspiring, and this experience has shaped my approach and commitment to quality care in all my subsequent placements.
