Managed 2-4 community partner-based research studies simultaneously including monitoring outcomes of a team of 2-4 undergraduate and medical students, monitoring expenses, executing contracts, and adhering to deadlines. Translated main themes from qualitative interview data and current pediatric research to develop a bilingual, 12-hour dating violence prevention curriculum, facilitation guides, and workbooks for Latino parents and teens.
Oversaw qualitative research study implementation around themes of teen dating violence prevention and language equity in research and healthcare. Delegated project tasks to teams of 2-4 student workers and monitors task completion and quality. Designed scripts and activities for a novel intervention around Latino parent-teen healthy dating communication. Planned and led bilingual data analysis groups with Latino adult and adolescent participants through virtual Human-Centered Design activities. Established and documented reproducible procedures for incoming team members and for future sustainability.
Drafted study proposals for the University’s ethical review, including project recruitment, consent, and interview scripts in English and Spanish. Recruited, consented, and interviewed adult and adolescent participants in English and Spanish. Distilled research findings into publicly accessible language and designed visual infographics for dissemination. Executed contracts with project partners and administered participant payments in a timely fashion.
Evaluated family members (sponsors) seeking custody of unaccompanied minors for natural supports, stability, ability to access resources, criminal history, and risk of labor or sex trafficking. Assessed minors for history and risk of abuse and trafficking and made recommendations for additional supportive services in care and after release when appropriate. Utilized appropriate means of communication, such as interpretation, depending on client language and literacy needs. Managed a case load of 8 minors and maintained detailed documentation to federal and state standards. Prepared and submitted detailed recommendations on safe and appropriate placement of minors.
Bilingual Navigator for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit's Latino Family Center. Part of the Immigrant Services and Connections (ISAC) program. Connected Spanish-speaking immigrants to resources in Allegheny County by helping them navigate linguistic and cultural barriers to access.
Covered understaffed shifts to ensure clients and residents received safe and high quality services when utilizing the front desk, children's and shelter services. Welcomed staff and guests at the front desk. Managed and maintained records of incoming and outgoing guests for optimal building safety. Engaged and cared for children while mothers attended support groups and care for personal wellness. Attended to needs and living concerns of residents in shelter.
