In my role, I am responsible for the oversight of staff in the Aquatics Department, I complete payroll, I mentor and guide new swim instructors to facilitate their lessons, and work closely with the Associate Director of Aquatics in order to execute any and all improvements for Aquatics at the MNJCC.
In my current role as an aquatics supervisor and teacher, I strive to teach and supervise swimming lessons with an equitable approach. By meeting swimmers where they are with regards to accessibility needs, neurodiversity, and able-bodiedness, I aim to adapt my educational approaches to each swimmer. In my supervisor role, I govern my team of instructors with positive reinforcement and a long-term vision for effective teaching.
In this role, I attend and contribute to regular board meetings regarding issues of housing, conflict, economic shortcomings, and disputes within the corporation. Furthermore, I act as a bridge of communication between various residences by expressing their needs and coming to a mutually agreed-upon solution.
In this role, I am tasked with sourcing the appropriate educational materials for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder based on age, ability, interest, and skill. I act as the bridge of communication between tutors, parents, and students to ensure each party has their educational and parental needs met. A large portion of my role demands that I manage and lead a sessional teaching training for tutors, which entails a thorough presentation on various teaching techniques and structural suggestions for tutors, as well as a concise summary on updated research on Autism Spectrum Disorder.
