I am the first clinical academic in the UK to hold a PhD in Biogerontology — the study of biological ageing. I currently hold an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I am interested in preventing frailty by targeting senescence, and this is the focus of my ongoing post-doctoral research.
I am a fully qualified and GMC licensed medical doctor working as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
I oversee peer review and apply editorial policy to ensure the publication of rigorous, relevant research in medical education. My role includes evaluating submissions, providing feedback to authors, and collaborating with fellow board members to uphold the journal’s standards and impact.
Clinical and academic FP jobs including: geriatric medicine, sickle cell, vascular surgery, perioperative medicine, allergy and emergency medicine.
Centre for Immunosenescence and Ageing At the intersection of stromal biology and immunology, I investigated how senescent fibroblasts modulate immune responses in human ageing. I developed human skin models and co-culture systems, using advanced imaging, ex vivo skin assays, and secretome analyses to study the clearance of senescent cells. My work spanned the pre-clinical pipeline and contributed to novel methods for senescence detection, supporting several high-impact publications.
