About

As Head of Group Battery Cell Technology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) in Freiburg, Germany, I focus on advancing energy storage technologies to support the transition to a sustainable energy system. My expertise encompasses the development of innovative battery technologies and the optimization of battery materials, electrodes and manufacturing processes. I have extensive experience with zinc-ion, sodium-ion, and lithium-ion batteries. During my PhD, I investigated zinc-ion batteries with aqueous acidic electrolytes, focusing on improving electrochemical stability and material performance. In my current role, I specialize in developing and optimizing manufacturing processes for battery electrodes, cell production, and battery module prototyping. Additionally, I employ advanced electrochemical, optical, chemical, and post-mortem analysis techniques to evaluate and enhance battery performance. I manage and coordinate interdisciplinary research projects, working with academic and industry partners to bridge the gap between research and application. My track record includes the successful acquisition and execution of projects that advance energy storage technologies and their industrial scalability. My goal is to drive the development of sustainable, safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-efficient battery solutions, supporting the energy transition..
