As Lead .NET Engineer at SimCorp, I'm responsible for delivery on parts of the investment-management platform that asset managers, pension funds, and insurers rely on to run their portfolios. The thing I care most about at my job is the balance. On one side, features need to ship fast enough to actually reach the market and earn their keep. On the other, the system has to stay scalable, testable, and readable by engineers who'll join five years from now. Most of the real work is making those two forces pull in the same direction. I'll happily do the extra steps to keep things deliberately simple in complicated systems, even when it slows me down in the short term, because in a domain like ours clever solutions age badly and simple ones compound. Lead a team of 8 engineers building the Collateral Management area of SimCorp's new cloud-based platform, a browser-based alternative to desktop product. My time splits between setting architectural direction, reviewing designs, and running deep requirements refinement with the team on Exchange Traded Derivatives workflows (futures, options, and their margin and collateral flows), driving requirements building for external vendor integration (Access FinTech). Worked as a senior engineer in the Collateral Management module of SimCorp's desktop product, focused on OTC derivatives workflows: the bilateral side of the business where margin calls, reconciliation, and disputes happen between counterparties. Owned the integrations with Acadia (for margin-call messaging, reconciliation, and dispute management) and Cassini (for collateral optimisation and analytics), and spent a meaningful part of the role mentoring recently joined engineers through the domain complexity of a codebase with years of accumulated context. Worked primarily in C# / .NET Framework during this period, shifting the balance of my day-to-day from the legacy APL code I started on toward newer .NET development as I took on more independent features.
