Eyewire is an online crowd-sourcing game to map the retinal neurons of the brain developed by Sebastian Seung's Lab at Princeton University. It is one of the world's largest citizen science projects. I was part of the visual creation and concept of their upcoming game, PYR. Definitely a fun and amazing experience to be part of the makings a new game. Just as amazing as players helping an AI learn how to map out pyramidal neurons. I enjoyed making some character and Item concept designs, polishing these concepts to fully rendered illustrations, and being part of illustrating artwork for scientific use. We shared a creative process of pitching ideas, provide constructive critiques, and shooting lasers at invader ships in VR. I had fun collaborating and learning with a 3D animator how to translate a 2D flat character into a readable 3D model. We made infographics and illustrative posters about how neurons function within an animal’s brain for the Boston Zoo's Brain exhibition. So please come visit the zoo and experience this event!
