Hi, I’m Nikhil — Senior Manager of Product Design at Workato, where I lead the design vision and execution of our MCP, API and Data products, design system and platform foundations. My work lives at the intersection of scalability, usability, and delight — making complex automation tools approachable for everyone from enterprise engineers to citizen builders. With a background in animation, creative coding and systems thinking, I care deeply about the craft and clarity of every interaction. Leading design for Workato's Platform, Governance, MCP, Builder Experiences and Orchestration capabilities like API Platform, Data Orchestration and Decision Automation.
I lead multidisciplinary design efforts across Workato’s platform, including MCP, API, and Data Orchestration products, as well as Platform UX, Digital Design, and Design Systems. My focus is on creating clarity and consistency across the product experience through close collaboration with product management and engineering.
I led a small, versatile design team at Workato, working across a wide range of product areas and initiatives. Our focus spanned end-to-end feature design, UX improvements, and the evolution of Workato’s Design System
I started freelancing part-time as a designer and UI developer, eventually giving it a full-time try. During this period, I worked on diverse projects spanning web and mobile design, branding, animation, and front-end development. Not every experiment worked out — but it was a formative experience that strengthened my craft and self-discipline. Clients included FourKites Inc., PollItUp, HealthCareLink, and ASJ Engineering Consultants.
I worked with PMs, Engineers, and Customer Success teams as the sole designer on web and mobile applications. I drove the UX, interaction, visual design, and prototyping for the Xactly Incent Android app, creating a platform specific style guide and designed the developer documentation and handoff, leading to a more efficient workflow. As a founding member of the Xactly Design team, I worked with the product team to introduce and implement design processes into existing workflows, evangelizing design at a process level. This led to greater design adoption with product and engineering teams.
Planned shot sequences, camera layouts, and animated characters for 3 award-winning TV shows, including ‘Dragons: Riders of Berk’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’. Personal Project: Worked with technical directors to design and build internal tools within Maya to improve animation workflow efficiency. I conducted contextual inquiries, created wireframes, developed the tools with MEL scripting, and iterated based on feedback from the team.
