My research and teachings focus on how digital technologies can be leveraged to transform business processes and business models and how it affects organization, productivity and jobs. In particular, I look at the impact of ICT on the organization and performance of business and research, with a particular emphasis on the contribution of ICT to R&D and innovation. I teach the basics of IT, information systems, data analytics and AI, and the managerial skills needed to manage and leverage them. As an independant advisor, I help C-level executives make sense of digital technologies and AI and adapt their strategy and organization to the fast-moving technology frontier. My approach is business-centric rather than technology centric. I believe in technology as an enabler and accelerator of progress and change, but not of technology as an end in its own right. I help institutions, private or public, integrate technological possibilities into their strategic thinking, and identify key organizational complements.
