IT Technical Lead for Space Engineering Services, helping to drive the company forward on their IT journey.
My job was to head up a team of project engineers to deliver new solutions in a professional and timely manner in order to meet the customers IT requirements.
A lot more of the same following a successful merger between soVision and Eye-Tech IT.
I work for soVision in Keynsham as their Solutions Architect. I design / build and tested a variety of solutions mainly on the Microsoft platform to meet our customers ever changing needs and requirements. With most small companies deciding to move to a hosted environment in the cloud, this is a great opportunity for me to make a difference to our customers. By giving them the ownership on what they want and listening to them, it allows me to design a suitable configuration that met the needs of their business whilst falling in line with the best practices defined at soVision. I am also fully involved with supporting each solution, meaning that any changes are made in a controlled manner because the customers current configuration is in a known state. When troubleshooting a customers problem or query, this is half the battle. Where possible, I bring my own personal standards of consistency and attention to detail to every customer that I have the pleasure of working with.
I have recently been promoted to the Change Coordinator at the Brandon Trust where I supervise all elements of the Information Services infrastructure that require change. I am new to the role so each day is an exciting challenge. Following the departure of the old IT team, I am now the Third Line technical lead within the team which has opened a series of opportunities allowing me to be fully involved with all things technology within the trust.
I have now been with Brandon Trust since August 2006. In my current role I maintain our Windows environment with server side components including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Microsoft Exchange 2003, SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Terminal Services via a Remote Desktop Farm running in a Hyper-V environment. I manage data backups using Backup Exec 2010 R2 which are then archived offsite using an external company based in Broomhill. I also manage Anti-virus protection on our client machines using Symantec Endpoint Protection and Windows Updates via Windows Server Update Services. I am the first technical contact for managing our HR Payroll System (iTrent), managing the day to day maintenance including patching and version upgrades. I also often liase with the developers Midland regarding raising / updating and closing calls via there extranet and I often put forward suggestions to their consultants about how to they could improve their service. I am also the technical lead on the deployment of Windows 7 throughout the trust using the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit as the deployment platform. I have documented the process for building a Windows 7 machine including the additional of Microsoft Office 2010, Symantec Endpoint Protection 12 and our self service password manager, Certero Passworks.
My IT Career began at the Brandon Trust as a First Line Support Technician. The Role consisted of resetting password's, managing new stock, building and deploying Windows XP machines, performing IT Training and doing an IT presentation to new starters as part of their Corporate Induction.
