I’m currently CEO of NextQuest LLC, a biotech consultancy I founded to support companies with strategic guidance across R&D and business operations. Drawing on decades of industry leadership, I advise on drug development, business growth, and complex industry challenges. From May 2018 to December 2024, I was President and CEO of Kronos Bio. Previously, I served as EVP R&D and CSO at Gilead Sciences, where I led development of over 25 approved medicines for serious conditions, transforming treatment for HIV, HCV, and lymphoma. As part of Gilead’s executive team, I helped grow the company from <50 employees to over 10,000 with $25B in revenue. I hold a PhD in organic chemistry from ETH Zurich and completed postdoctoral research at Syntex and Harvard in George Whitesides’ lab. I’ve received honorary doctorates from the University of Innsbruck and Baylor College of Medicine and am a Fellow of the AAAS. I currently serve on the Boards of Vir Biotechnology (public) and MiNA Therapeutics (private).
