I cover the automotive industry for Reuters, focusing on the Detroit Three carmakers, UAW, and broader trends in retail, manufacturing and technology. I cover the Detroit Three, UAW and much more in the broader autos industry.
From union negotiations to supply-chain snarls, I covered the automotive industry for The Wall Street Journal. My coverage included the major car companies, as well as broader trends in retail, manufacturing and technology.
Delved into investigative pieces in areas of importance to the community, such as Mayo Clinic, the state department of corrections and economic development agencies. My stories on the MN Dept. of Corrections' response to COVID-19 prompted policy changes across state prisons. Additionally, I focused on chasing multiple threads across beats to produce scoops in key coverage areas.
Part of the Pulitzer Prize-finalist team that reported on how COVID-19 swept through nursing homes. I dug into a robust investigation of a New Jersey veterans home that our reporting shows had more deaths to coronavirus than any other in the nation. After the investigation published, the Federal Department of Justice launched an investigation of NJ nursing homes and the governor fired top officials at the facility. As a producer and reporter for WSJ's robust podcast portfolio, I crafted segments for our What's News show, and occasionally stepped in as producer for Tech News Briefing. I reported and produced a 25-minute podcast for The Future of Everything on the future of artificial blood creation.
Reported, researched and edited audio for NPR's investigative reporting team, focusing on a three-part investigation into urban heat islands. My solo reported and produced piece on the impact of high heat on mental health aired on Morning Edition.
