Now retired, Noel works on a voluntary basis as Coordinaor of Meditation with Children for Christian Meditation Ireland. He leads an inservice team of volunteers who offer in-service to schools interested in introducing the practice of meditation with children on a whole-school basis. He was awarded a doctorate for his research on the child's experience of Christian Meditation. His thesis was "Children's Spirituality and the Practice of Meditation in Irish Primary Schools: A Phenomenological Exploration. Christian Meditation.' The International Journal for Children's Spirituality published a paper on his research in December 2016 entitled "Children's Spirituality and the Practice of Meditation in Irish Primary Schools." In December 2017 VERITAS (Dublin) published his most recent book "Meditation with Children: A Resource for Teachers and Parents." Noel formerly worked as Education Officer for the Presentation Sisters Northern Province for ten years. Before that he was Principal of Presentation College Carlow for thirteen years, having earlier served as a teacher in Edenderry, Co Offaly for seventeen years. In 2005 his book "Trusteeship and Mission Integrity: Having Faith in Our Schools" was published by the Presentation Sisters Education Office. Noel was appointed as a member of the Board of Veritas in 2013.
