Since December 2020 I have taken on the role as Cables Package Manager for the 1080MW Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm located off the coast of Edinburgh. I am responsible for delivering the technical and commercial solution for both Export Cable and Inter Array Cable packages including the contract strategy to deliver the cables packages. With both CAPEX and design challenges on this project, this challenging role is providing me with a platform to put into practice the extensive engineering, commercial and contractual experience and skills I have gained especially in the last 8 years in the renewables sector. As we drive this project through CfD and Project financing, I am looking forward to more challenges and opportunities to deliver across the cables package.
I am responsible for developing potential offshore wind projects in Ireland. My role involves assigning or engaging resources, developing programme and budget, building up the business case, seeking the relevant approvals within ESB and engaging with key stakeholders especially our JV partners. Another key role of mine, is acting as investment manger for ESB invested offshore projects in UK market ensuring rigour on actual versus target budget and programme and that lessons learned is transferred back into the various functions in ESB.
Moving into the Asset Development, as Project Director for 2 complex joint venture wind farm projects in Ireland. Some key aspects of my role includes, - taking control of all work streams of the project with regard to scope, planning, financing, stakeholder management, programming and resourcing - developing and seeking approval for CAPEX - awarding of EBoP, CBoP and WTG contracts - bringing the project to financial close - securing funding for the projects through bank financing and the due diligence process - reporting to JV management committee and ESB committee
>Initially appointed as Assistant Project Manager for Raheenleagh wind farm - Development phase as owners engineer acting on behalf of client ESB JV, I was responsible for: - Inputting into the CAPEX budget, developing a Quality Management Plan and Site Management Plan and other PMP documents and providing cable expertise for cable grid connection works. - Appointed as Project Manager for Raheenleagh – during this time I was responsible for the prequalification phase and developing and issuing the enquiry documents for EBoP, CBoP, Cable Works and Wind turbine contracts. - Then appointed as Project Manager for Woodhouse Wind Farm – Construction Stage, the only major capital project in construction phase as well as contract manager for the WTG contract. Some of my key duties: - Mobilisation of civil contractor to site, turbine foundation excavation and construction - Appointed as PSDP for Woodhouse Project - Substation excavation and construction - Responsible for the implementation of safety initiatives on site in Woodhouse. - Preparation of monthly reports and undertaking site and safety audits - Delivery and erection of 8 x Nordex turbines - Handover of project with all turbines erected and no major unforeseen claims
- Prime objective was to familiarize myself with Irish based cables projects, stakeholders and legsilation (health and safety) - Undertake cable design and materials procuremnt - Understand and familiarize myself with the role of PSDP and PSCS - Undertook extra work from previous role as Bid Manager for international bids - Acted as mentor for engineers in bid preparation for cable projects
- Responsible for preparation, costing and submitting EOI's and international bids for transmission and distribution projects. - Undertaking due diligence on RFP's, clients and projects to assess feasibility of submitting bids - Undertaking risk analysis on bids and ensuring mitigation measures are in place if required - Preparing cost estimates based on resource allocations and company rates - Preparing clarification responses and attending clarification meetings. - - Preparing relevant documents for legal, insurance, tax and finance approvals of bids - Also developed specific 220kV & 66kV HV cables expertise in order to act as contract manager for HV cables contract for client in Bahrain - Attended and acted as inspector on numerous type and factory tests for 220kV and 66kV XLPE cables, joints and accessories
This was my last role in Eskom before moving to Ireland. I was responsible for the planning and design for the electrification programme for the Eastern region with a target of 80 000 connections per year. This included compiling, 1 year fixed plan, 2-5 year rolling plan. I was responsible for managing multiple consultants who were tasked with producing designs for various electrification projects.
