Dr Chambers has more than 20 years experience in start-up companies, commercial research and biotechnology. In the early 90’s whilst at The University of Sydney, his research into Type II diabetes led to a commercial collaboration and for his research in 1997 he was presented the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s Biota Award. He then moved into industry where he held senior management positions in research and business development before becoming the CEO of a number of listed and unlisted biotechnology/health related companies. In 2009, Dr Chambers’ attention turned to philanthropy where he led the establishment of Research Australia’s successful philanthropy program as the Director of Philanthropy. He is also a member of the Federal Governments Advisory Council for Intellectual Property (ACIP) and chair of the review into collaborations between PFRO’s and industry. We continue to work with our clients to review, develop and implement strategic plans, and to undertake project specific and interim management requirements to facilitate growth, transition, change-management and start-up needs. Centuris has used its experience and in-house capabilities to build the philanthrovate grant administration solution. A platform in-the-cloud assisting online applications, reviews, workflow and project management for charities, grant makers and investors. With a strong belief in corporate social responsibility (CSR) in 2018 Centuris launched ‘Philanthrovate Connect’ a free online directory to efficiently and effectively connect health and medical researchers with trusts and foundations. Utilising Australian standards philanthrovate connect assists researchers identify grants that are relevant to their needs.
The Federal Governments Advisory Council for Intellectual Property (ACIP) advises the Federal Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research. I served on the council for six years and was Chair of the ACIP review into collaborations between Publicly Funded Research Organisations and Industry.
