Supports students with intellectual and physical disabilities by facilitating the development of motor skills, functional mobility, and independence in daily routines. Emphasis is placed on enhancing strength, coordination, and accessibility within the school environment through individualized interventions, adaptive equipment, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to promote meaningful participation and carryover across settings.
Roles include, facilitating swimmer safety, testing pool chemicals, and enforcing pool rules.
In my role within school-based elementary-level occupational therapy (OT) at Hamilton Heights School under the NYC Department of Education, I assessed and implemented interventions that support students in developing the skills and strategies necessary to participate fully in their educational activities inside and outside the classroom to achieve their academic goals.
